Professor Mooney’s work involves regular collaboration with designers, architects, engineers, technical consultants, contractors, public and private clients and communities in the planning, design and execution of architectural solutions to address complex challenges. Anne is a LEED accredited professional and has produced LEED certified completed projects, including award-winning design work earning both Silver and Gold levels of LEED Certification. The architectural works authored by Anne Mooney embrace the ethos of environmental resilience in a variety of ways including passive design, sustainable site and planning strategies, energy efficiency building design, renewable energy systems for heating and cooling architecture, and low impact building materials and systems. She is the co-chair of the AIA COTE (Committee on the Environment) and the AIA BEC (Building Enclosure Council). Anne is a licensed architect and a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional and serves on a number of boards and committees, including the Board of Directors of AIA Utah. Her creative work has been internationally recognized for its research-based conceptual approach to architecture and has been featured in over 50 publications. Anne is the co-founder of Sparano + Mooney Architecture, an award-winning design firm with projects including cultural and community centers, transit and public works projects and private residences. She was educated in architecture at Columbia University and the Southern California Institute of Architecture where she graduated with Distinction. Mooney, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP is a Professor in the School of Architecture who, prior to joining the faculty at the University of Utah, taught design studios at institutions in Los Angeles.
